Always Improving With Construction Industry Networking Events

Construction Industry Networking Events

Construction industry networking events are a key piece in our continued growth and excellence here at MDW! One way we invest in our own improvement is at the Contractor Coalition Summit (CCS). My journey with CCS has completely leveled up my business and professional life since day 1.

Discovering Contractor Coalition Summit

My introduction to CCS came through my wife, who follows Morgan Molitor. She suggested I join her community of like-minded business owners, knowing how much I thrive on interaction and connection. Skeptical but curious, I reached out to Morgan and inquired about the potential return on investment. Morgan confidently told me I’d see my money back within the first hour. True to her word, in that first hour, a discussion about design contract retainers completely changed my approach to design contracts and challenged an area where I was undervaluing my work. It was just the start of the valuable insights of the day!

I also asked Morgan what the educational sessions were like, as I’m not someone who learns well from long talks, PowerPoint, or presentations. She assured me that roundtable discussion-type interaction, small groups, and Q&A sessions were what it was all about.! I’m certain I asked the most questions at that first event, and three events later I’m still the reigning king of curiosity (how fitting).

My First CCS Experience

My first Contractor Coalition Summit event was in Nashville, and it was a game-changer. Having 30 like-minded individuals and industry experts gathered together to learn and grow was so energizing, and I’m certain we learned just as much from each other outside the classroom as in it! Each event I’ve attended has produced countless networking opportunities, with three or four of what I call “sticky” friendships with other construction professionals that I'm still in regular contact with to this day.

Growing as a professional helps me to better serve clients and provide a better experience overall! These events are helpful on both sides, but offer a lot of education in building, how to build better, connect with better products for our homes, streamline systems, and countless other areas that help us improve.

Transforming My Business

The Contractor Coalition Summit has opened my eyes to new possibilities. It shifted my focus from the daily grind to a broader view, enabling me to connect and collaborate with industry leaders, brands, and friends nationwide. This newfound perspective led to the launch of the Curious Builder Podcast, transforming my brand and business strategy!

Why I Keep Going Back for More

Each CCS education session builds on the one before, deepening your ability to take in and apply the information as well as network with peers. The first event felt overwhelming, like drinking from a fire hose. By the second event, I had taken action on many of the teachings, allowing me to delve deeper into the wide range of material. By the third, I was sharing my experiences and insights with others, reinforcing my knowledge and expertise. It’s like an unofficial undergraduate degree student progressing to a Ph.D. in construction industry networking for industry professionals.

Everything I’ve learned, and continue to learn, at these events makes us better builders for every project!

Coming Full Circle

Your vibe attracts your tribe, as Morgan likes to say, and the CCS events have certainly helped me find my tribe. Now I connect weekly with members or alumni of the CCS and have done several events with Brad with shared sponsors!

The podcast platform birthed from the Contractor Coalition Summit has also really exploded my world! When CCS came to Minneapolis, the Curious Builder Podcast played kickoff host to Build Buzz- a large, 150-person live podcast with industry peers Brad, Morgan, Nick, and Tyler. That was such a fun full circle moment!

Additionally, events like the Curious Collective and upcoming Curious Retreats are extensions of this journey of connection and collaboration, something I never again want to do business without!

Working with these incredible leaders in the custom home building world serves to inspire me on every project, and provides incredible connections that ensure every area of the project is handled by the best of the best!
